Mercury Retrograde 29 May - 22 June
Mercury, the planet that rules how we communicate and think and general everyday success (Mercury rules trade and commerce) is retrograde from May 29 to June 22 in their home sign of Gemini.
Throughout Mercury’s retrograde, Mercury will square Neptune, planet of ideals, aspirations, fantasy and illusion. Neptune is as far removed from reality as any being can get. Their energy can’t be contained in physical form. It’s a planet that tempts and seduces with visions of Nirvana. Whenever Neptune aspects another planet we can expect elements of confusion and deception.
Mercury has been in a tight square to Neptune since May 18th. And this upcoming Mercury retrograde is going to be strongly influenced by Neptune who is also powerful in their home sign of Pisces. With Mercury in an Air sign and Neptune in a Water sign you can bet we’re going to hear many wondrous fairy tales. We’re going to listen to fiction weaved by politicians and leaders and we’re going to believe most of it because let’s face it, we’re all exhausted. We’re desperate for good news. And we’re all in need of a good ol’ bacchanalian party.
Mercury is the conscious, rational mind. Neptune is the imaginary realm. When Mercury’s retrograde they’re basically taking a break.
You can see where I’m going with this...From now until early July (when Mercury clears their post-retrograde shadow), I recommend you practice discernment. At this time, our imaginations are working overtime and building up false constructs. I’m just going to put it out there: don’t stop wearing your masks when out in public. This is not the time to drop your guard.
Another thing to look out for during this retrograde is forgetfulness. You may find yourself missing appointments and forgetting commitments. Write things down and keep an eye on your calendar.
While it is always a good idea to trust your gut, it’s going to be imperative that you listen first to your gut during this retrograde period because your mind is going to lead you astray.
Lastly, this is not the time to get married, launch a new venture or even start a new job (if you’re returning to work or going to work for a previous employer that’s ok). Use this period to make adjustments and revisit projects.
