New Moon in Pisces

We’re in Hecate’s realm today, in the deep Dark of the Moon, a time to reflect and focus on self-care. Your energy levels may be low and you may feel a need to pull away and retreat. Listen to your body.
The Moon entered Pisces (March 1, 2022) just after 1pm here in the Pacific Northwest and you should be enjoying an easy and quiet day because Luna is aspect-free. Tomorrow morning the Moon reaches for Uranus in a harmonious sextile. We will feel revitalized. A great day for fun activities or get-togethers where everyone’s unique self-expression is respected. Do spend some time in reflection as the Moon-Uranus sextile works to awaken the liberating or healing flow of emotions. Say the things that need to be said, while making space for the other.
The New Moon (12º Pisces 9:34am PT) will conjunct Jupiter in the terms of Jupiter in Jupiter-ruled Pisces. That’s a lot of Jupiter energy. However this energy will not necessarily manifest in a positive manner. More doesn’t necessarily equate with better and what sometimes happens with Jupiter is he makes problems so big we can’t avoid them any longer.
So let me start then by saying that if you have been trying to ignore a problem, this New Moon is going to demand you bring order to that situation.
The glyph for Pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions. One swims up and towards the cosmos; while the other swims down into the ocean depths. Ideally, these two should work together in a rhythmic weaving of psychic-physical forces.
Look to the house occupied by Pisces in your chart for clues as to what this New Moon will expand or inflate for you. For example; if Pisces is your 2nd House, you may win extra clients and fatten your bank account or you may find yourself in a casino dropping chips.
The chart for this New Moon is interesting on many levels. Besides the Moon, Sun and Jupiter pile up there are two other conjunctions that while not aspecting the New Moon, still deserve our attention. Pluto, Mars on the 27º in Capricorn (Venus conjunct at 26º) and Mercury and Saturn at 19º Aquarius. The Sabian symbol for 27º Capricorn is “A Mountain Pilgrimage” which James Burgess interprets as follows:
By allowing ourselves to respond to the subtle feelings of the mysteries (26 ), we include retreat and pilgrimage in our lives (27)
The pile up of planets in Capricorn points to the fact that there is still work to be done in the house in which you find Capricorn in your chart. Pluto’s presence here indicates the need for radical transformation or release. Maybe the time has come to let someone go because their values (Venus) don’t align with yours? Mars reinforces this need to “cut” someone or some behaviour or habit.
Mercury conjunct Saturn at 18º and 19º respectively in Aquarius, fall under the Sabian symbol “A forest fire quenched” which James Burgess describes as “dealing with emergencies”...
Most of us have to cope with a sudden and unexpected situation that we must handle well in order to avoid a destructive outcome.
If you have any planets in your birth chart sitting on these degrees in Capricorn and Aquarius, consider if and how these sabian symbols describe your current experience.
Pisces is the sign of the dreamer, the mystic, the romantic and the storyteller. Pisces is interested in the wellbeing of the collective. It’s the sign of compassion; of whole-hearted feeling but also the sign that knows every exit point and trapdoor. Planets in Pisces sometimes behave like escape artists. So going back to the point I made at the beginning, avoidance may be a very real issue for you now; a reluctance to see things as they are.
Pisces is ruled by two planets. Jupiter (traditional ruler) and Neptune (modern ruler). Jupiter, as the largest planet in our solar system, magnanimously generates more energy than it receives from the Sun. In fact twice as much energy. What this translates to symbolically and mythically for us is, we too, can generate more of what we have been given.
This New Moon, ask the Moon and Jupiter to open your path so you can be of maximum good in the world. Look at the house occupied by Pisces in your birth chart for clues as to what Jupiter can assist in redeeming and enlarging in your life.
