The Gemini/Sagittarius Nodal Cycle
The North Node moved into Gemini last week (May 5th) which means the corresponding South Node is now in Sagittarius. The Nodes are not physical bodies but points in space. The nodal orbits arise from the intersection of the Moon's orbit with the plane of the ecliptic (the path of the Sun and planets as they appear to revolve around the earth).
When the nodes were in Cancer and Capricorn (from November 7, 2018) the following areas were highlighted for change: family, country and tribe (Cancer) and government, and big business (Capricorn). Now that they’ve changed signs we can expect changes in Gemini and Sagittarius ruled areas.
Symbolically the North Node represents the future and the South Node the past. The South Node can pull us back into familiar patterns while the North Node invites new possibilities. In Vedic astrology, the North Node is the Dragon’s Head (Rahu) and the South Node is the Dragon’s Tail (Ketu). With the North Node in Gemini for the next two years, we can expect changes in the way we communicate and collect and disperse information. Gemini is also the sign associated with short journeys, airplanes, school (elementary and high school), and the lungs.
We can also look forward to a “doubling up” of things as Gemini is the sign of the twins (duality).
The South Node in Sagittarius shows we will leave behind or change our attitude towards dogma. The hospitality and tourism industries will change as will our approach to air travel. With more people working from home, it seems unnecessary long journeys will be something of the past.
Our Mother Earth will continue to rejuvenate.
Expect changes - perhaps increased censorship? - in the publishing industry. Gemini in the North Node also indicates a blurring of the truth (fact vs fiction) so expect an increase in conspiracy theories. It's worth noting that the last time the nodes were in the same Gemini-Sagittarius configuration was from October 2001 to April 2003.
The way we educate our children and choose to educate ourselves is going to change. Instead of applauding the regurgitation of information and focusing on grades, we are going to encourage curiosity and creativity. More and more people will turn to mentors and wise elders for guidance.
